We were able to visit a Latter-Day Saints Temple about a week ago. Before hand, we had a little information session so we could know a little more about what the LDS believe before we arrived.
I'm going to be honest, I had NO idea what the LDS believed. I learned SO much and it was so interesting to finally somewhat understand the similarities and the differences between what they believe and what I believe.
It was also incredibly heart-breaking to see how much they truly believed in what they were telling us. From my eyes, what they saw as truth seemed outrageous to me. Yet, it is only God's grace that separates me from them. It is ONLY by God's grace that I don't believe in what they believe. And that fact made me have a reality slap-in-the-face and I had to check my pride at the door.
(If you want to know details, just let me know, and I could fill your brain with what little knowledge I learned from this experience.)
Anyway, here are some pictures that I snapped while walking around the outside of the Temple and in the (new) Visitor's Center. Oh, also we weren't allowed to go inside of the temple, so I don't have any awesome inside pictures.
The World's Second Largest LDS Temple (Salt Lake City is the largest)
The "Front Doors" to the Temple. Also, our tour guides :)
The LDS focus a lot on family, so this is the family statue outside of the Temple.
Just some paintings inside of The Visitor's Center
Anyway, I'm sorry this wasn't incredibly informative, but then again, if you have any deeper questions, just ask!
Prayer Points:
- That the true Gospel will infiltrate the people of the LDS and that they will come to believe solely on God's true, written Word, and not the word of someone else (The Book of Mormon).
- Their hearts will be softened to God's true Word and those spreading God's Word.
- That believers will initiate conversation with them and know of the differences so as to better minister to those of the LDS faith.
